Alex Soros and Huma Abedin Are Engaged

Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s former deputy chief of staff, is engaged to Alex Soros, son of prominent Democrat donor George Soros. Sources confirmed the engagement to Page Six, revealing that Alex proposed in May at his New York City home before the couple departed for Italy to celebrate.

Abedin, 47, and Soros, 38, were later seen vacationing in Italy, enjoying their engagement celebration. A friend of Abedin described the relationship as “effortless” and noted that Abedin is “relaxed and happy and in love” after many difficult years.

Alex Soros, who has been deeply involved in Democratic politics thanks to his father’s influence, found a perfect match in Abedin, according to a former senior Clinton staffer. “It’s a classic Clinton World couple,” they said. Abedin has often been referred to as Hillary Clinton’s “second daughter,” and George Soros is set to pass his empire, worth at least $6.7 billion, to Alex.

The couple first became publicly linked earlier this year after sharing a Valentine’s Day photo in Paris. Abedin has been seen frequently at Soros’s New York City residence, further fueling speculation about their relationship.
George Soros, who recently announced plans to transition his empire to Alex, was a major donor to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, contributing over $9.5 million. This engagement highlights the close ties between Abedin and the Soros family.

In February, Abedin and Soros traveled to Munich, Germany, coinciding with the Munich Security Conference, an annual gathering of influential global leaders.

Abedin’s previous marriage to former Congressman Anthony Weiner ended in 2017 after Weiner pleaded guilty to charges related to sending explicit content to a minor. He was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison, and Abedin filed for divorce just before his plea.

This engagement is the first marriage for Alex Soros and marks a new chapter in Abedin’s life.
