Biden Policies Blamed For Trafficking Surge As Trump Administration Cracks Down

President Donald Trump’s administration has vowed to dismantle human trafficking networks fueled by the ongoing border crisis. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller stressed the administration’s commitment to protecting children, stating, “This administration is going to investigate every instance of child trafficking, labor trafficking, s–x trafficking, child smuggling, and all the attendant crimes involved in that.”

Reports from congressional hearings reveal how the Biden-Harris administration’s policies have contributed to the exploitation of unaccompanied minors. During the hearings, retired Border Patrol agent J.J. Carrell exposed the link between lax border enforcement and organ harvesting. Carrell described the horrifying practices of cartels targeting vulnerable children who cross the border alone.

HHS whistleblower Tara Rodas testified that children were released to sponsors without sufficient vetting. She said criminal organizations have used the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) as a tool for trafficking. “We have delivered these unaccompanied children to criminals, traffickers, and members of transnational criminal organizations,” Rodas explained.

Counter-trafficking expert Alicia Hopper revealed that cartels exploit federal systems by tracking border policies and adjusting their operations accordingly. Hopper testified that Border Patrol agents are referred to as “Migrant Uber” because they transport children to sponsors without adequate oversight.

Lisa, an advocate working to dismantle trafficking rings, reported that advertisements for trafficked girls have increased dramatically since 2021. Platforms such as TikTok and Facebook are now flooded with ads targeting buyers, many written in Spanish. Lisa noted that nearly all the trafficking cases her organization handles involve migrant girls.

A recent DHS report showed over 500,000 unaccompanied children have crossed the southern border since 2021, with more than 85,000 children unaccounted for. Nearly 300,000 minors were released without court notices, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation.
