Billionaire Donors Line Up To Support Harris’s Presidential Bid

Left-wing billionaire donors are rallying behind Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign following President Joe Biden’s recent decision to withdraw from the race. With endorsements from influential figures such as George Soros and his son Alex Soros, Harris is poised to secure significant financial backing from the Democrat Party’s wealthiest supporters.

According to a report by the New York Times, prominent Democratic fundraisers like Gretchen Sisson in California have expressed excitement and are mobilizing support for Harris. Sisson mentioned that her phone has been inundated with inquiries from donors eager to contribute and support Harris’s campaign. “People who were committed but worried are now excited and energized,” Sisson said.

Reid Hoffman, a major Democratic donor and one of Biden’s strongest supporters, has also endorsed Harris. Hoffman, who has faced scrutiny for his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, spent $7 million in the 2020 campaign supporting Biden and opposing then-President Donald Trump. Hoffman’s financial influence, combined with endorsements from other billionaire donors, signals a substantial flow of funds toward Harris’s campaign.

Alex Soros, the heir to the Soros family philanthropic legacy, has also thrown his support behind Harris. The endorsements from the Soros family and other billionaire donors highlight the significant backing Harris is receiving from the Democratic Party’s elite.

Groups like Emily’s List and Way to Win, which steer major donors in their contributions, have quickly endorsed Harris. These organizations, known for their support of pro-abortion rights candidates and women in politics, are mobilizing their networks to bolster Harris’s campaign.

Chris Korge, finance chair for the Biden Victory Fund, noted that many major donors had been hesitant to contribute amid the uncertainty surrounding Biden’s campaign. With Biden’s decision to step aside, Korge expects a surge in donations for Harris. “The floodgates will open,” Korge said. “There’s been a lot of people holding back contributions that will now contribute.”

Harris has long been favored by wealthy donors, particularly those on the coasts. During her 2019 presidential campaign, Harris received substantial funding from California residents, including those working in law firms, multinational corporations, and Silicon Valley tech companies. Events hosted by figures like billionaire Gordon Getty of the Getty Oil dynasty and California Gov. Gavin Newsom further underscored Harris’s appeal to high-profile donors.

With the Democratic Party’s billionaire class rallying behind her, Harris is set to receive substantial financial support as she campaigns. The endorsements and financial backing from influential donors indicate a strong start for Harris’s bid to secure the Democratic nomination.
