Crockett Under Fire For Tesla Remarks As Rage Against Musk Continues
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is defending her role in the Tesla Takedown movement after facing criticism from Attorney General Pam Bondi over comments made during a virtual rally. Bondi accused Crockett of using inflammatory language about Elon Musk, claiming she called for Musk to be “taken out” on her birthday.
Crockett appeared on MSNBC to deny promoting violence, stating that her participation in the protest was centered on nonviolent civic engagement. She emphasized that she instructed attendees to follow local laws and exercise their right to peaceful assembly. Crockett also accused Musk’s defenders of twisting her words to distract from real policy concerns.

The protests, scheduled for March 29, have been promoted through a campaign calling itself Tesla Takedown. Organizers have described it as a peaceful effort to push back against Musk’s growing political influence and his role in the Department of Government Efficiency under the Trump administration.

More than 500 demonstrations are expected across the country, with protesters targeting Tesla dealerships. The official website for the protest calls for lawful resistance and disavows property destruction or violence. However, the protests come amid a wave of unrelated arson attacks on Tesla vehicles, which have prompted federal investigations.
Crockett stated that March 29 is her birthday and that she wants to see Musk “taken down” on that day. Critics, including Bondi, claimed the wording was a direct threat. Crockett responded that her statement was a reference to Musk’s business interests and was not intended to be interpreted literally.
The Trump administration has taken a hardline stance against attacks on Tesla, declaring them acts of domestic terrorism and even raising the possibility of prison sentences in El Salvador for those convicted of violent acts against the company.
Crockett serves on the DOGE Oversight Committee, which monitors Musk’s activities in his government role. She has expressed frustration with what she calls Musk’s outsized influence on public policy and spending decisions.
