Daughter Of Teachers’ Union Boss Mike Mulgrew Lands $165K Job In NYC Agency Under Investigation

Meghan Mulgrew, daughter of NYC teachers’ union president Michael Mulgrew, has secured a high-paying job in the Adams administration, earning $165,000 annually as a senior advisor in the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS). The Post has learned that her role at the agency, which she began in April 2023, places her in a senior advisory position under the department’s executive deputy commissioner.

DCAS is currently under investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office, with a focus on potential bribery involving city-owned buildings and lease deals. The probe escalated last month when phones were seized from Jesse Hamilton, DCAS deputy commissioner for real estate services, and Ingrid Lewis-Martin, chief advisor to Mayor Eric Adams, upon their return from Japan with an executive from Cushman & Wakefield, a major real-estate services firm.

Meghan Mulgrew reports directly to Shameka Overton, the executive deputy commissioner of DCAS, who was promoted just last month and supervises Hamilton. This development has added scrutiny to the agency as the investigation unfolds. Michael Mulgrew, Meghan’s father, has been the president of the powerful teachers’ union since 2009, making this situation even more high-profile as city officials and investigators look into potential misconduct at DCAS.

The investigation continues, with potential implications for both DCAS and its leadership as the Manhattan DA’s office digs deeper into possible corruption involving high-level city officials and private real estate interests.
