DOGE Employees Face Online Attacks As Federal Prosecutors Investigate

Federal prosecutors are taking action after employees of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) were doxed and targeted online. U.S. Attorney Ed Martin confirmed that his office is reviewing evidence of potential legal violations following the exposure of DOGE workers’ identities on social media.

Martin stated that his office is working with law enforcement partners, including the FBI, to address the threats. “We also have our prosecutors preparing,” he said, adding that arrests could be imminent. While Martin did not name specific individuals responsible, he made it clear that his office would take aggressive legal action.

The controversy began after Wired published the names of several DOGE employees, many of whom are young and lack government experience. The names were soon posted on X, where some users made threats. Musk responded on X by stating, “You have committed a crime,” signaling that the exposure of his staff crossed a legal line.

Martin, in a letter addressed to Musk, vowed to protect DOGE employees. “We will pursue any and all legal action against anyone who impedes your work or threatens your people,” he wrote. He also criticized the previous administration for failing to take similar action against those who targeted government employees in the past.

Critics have argued that revealing the names of DOGE staffers does not constitute doxing, as government employees have fewer privacy protections. Some have suggested that the public has a right to know who is working in positions of authority. However, Musk’s supporters contend that posting the names of his employees is an intimidation tactic meant to undermine DOGE’s work.

As federal authorities investigate the threats, Musk has continued to defend his team. He recently wrote on X, “Time to confess: Media reports saying that @DOGE has some of the world’s best software engineers are in fact true.”
