Elon Musk Calls Biden And Harris ‘Puppets’ After Assassination Post Sparks Backlash
Elon Musk, billionaire owner of SpaceX and Tesla, stirred controversy with a deleted post on his social media platform, X, questioning why no one had attempted to assassinate President Joe Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris. Musk later clarified his comments, calling Biden and Harris “puppets of the system” who could easily be replaced.
Musk’s post came shortly after former President Donald Trump survived a second assassination attempt, and his remarks were quickly met with criticism. In a message to the Washington Examiner, Musk stood by his point, explaining that unlike Trump, Biden and Harris are replaceable and follow the system without questioning it. “No one will try to assassinate them because they’re just puppets,” Musk stated.
The Secret Service, responsible for protecting the president, vice president, and Trump, became aware of Musk’s post. While the agency refrained from commenting on specifics, it did confirm that all threats against its protectees are investigated. Musk revealed that the Secret Service had not contacted him personally about the matter.
When asked why he deleted the controversial post, Musk admitted, “It was dumb.”
Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), echoed Musk’s sentiments during a speech at a Georgia Faith & Freedom Coalition dinner, questioning why only Trump has been the target of recent assassination attempts. Vance’s comments were addressed during a White House press briefing, with press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre warning that such language is “dangerous” and could incite violence.
Despite the backlash, Musk remains a vocal supporter of Trump and hinted at joining his administration should Trump win the 2024 election.
