GOP Reps Call For End To FBI, ATF ‘No-Knock Raids’

In a move that is sure to provoke protests from the Left, Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) and Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) have introduced a new bill that seeks to end FBI/ATF-coordinated “no knock raids” on gun owners. The bill, known as the “No More No-Knocks Act,” aims to protect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners by ensuring that they are not subjected to violent and potentially deadly raids by law enforcement agencies.

The issue of no-knock raids has been a contentious one, with critics arguing that they are unnecessary and dangerous.

Under current law, the FBI and ATF are authorized to conduct these types of raids in certain circumstances, such as when they have reason to believe that a suspect is armed and dangerous. However, critics argue that these raids are often carried out in a heavy-handed manner and can result in the unnecessary use of force, property damage, and even loss of life.

Good and Perry’s bill seeks to address these concerns by prohibiting the use of no-knock raids on individuals who are suspected of non-violent crimes or who are not considered to be a threat to public safety. The bill would also require law enforcement agencies to obtain a warrant before conducting any type of raid and would have them provide advance notice to the occupants of the property being searched.

In a statement announcing the introduction of the bill, Rep. Good emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

“Law-abiding gun owners in Virginia and across the country should not live in fear that federal agents will come knocking at their door to confiscate their guns,” he said. “My bill will provide a check on this administration and ensure no-knock raids are not exploited to violate the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens.”

Good further argued that no-knock raids are a violation of the Fourth Amendment’s protections against unreasonable searches and seizures, calling the raid another way the Biden Administration weaponizes the executive branch to “infringe on the rights of all Americans.”

The “No More No-Knocks Act” has already garnered support from a number of prominent conservative groups, including the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Gun Owners of America (GOA). However, it is likely to face significant opposition from Democrats and supporters of stricter gun control measures.

It remains to be seen whether the bill will gain traction in Congress, especially with Democrats maintaining control of the Senate. However, it is sure to spark further awareness on the essence of Second Amendment rights.
