Harris, Stein In Tight Race For Muslim Vote As Election Nears
A poll by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) shows that Kamala Harris and Jill Stein are virtually tied among Muslim voters. CAIR’s final pre-election survey shows Stein leading slightly with 42% support, while Harris follows closely with 41%.
President Donald Trump, meanwhile, has attracted the support of 10% of Muslim voters. An additional 5.4% of Muslims say they don’t intend to vote, and 0.6% favor Libertarian candidate Chase Oliver. CAIR conducted the poll from October 30-31, surveying 1,449 verified Muslim voters with a margin of error of +/-2.5%.

CAIR’s National Executive Director, Nihad Awad, noted that opposition to U.S. policies on Gaza is a key issue impacting Muslim voter decisions. He also highlighted the strong engagement within the community, with 95% saying they plan to vote in this election.
Stein’s vice-presidential pick, Butch Ware, has been vocal on issues that resonate with many Muslim voters. Ware, a Black Muslim and a professor at the University of California Santa Barbara, has criticized Zionism, calling it “white supremacist.” Stein’s choice to include Ware on her ticket may be swaying some voters away from Harris.

As the poll reveals a close race, CAIR continues to encourage all Muslim voters to make their voices heard, regardless of candidate preference. With Election Day approaching, both campaigns may seek to appeal to this engaged demographic.
