House Committee Investigates Gov. Walz Over Alleged CCP Connections

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) is now the subject of a House Oversight Committee investigation concerning his extensive ties to China, including a student exchange program reportedly funded by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) launched the probe following reports of Walz’s long-standing relationships with CCP entities and officials.

Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), chairman of the Select Committee on China, remarked, “This investigation is crucial to understanding the extent of CCP influence on our state-level officials. Governor Walz’s connections raise significant national security concerns.”

Key aspects of the investigation include:

  • Walz’s 30 reported visits to China
  • His fellowship at a Chinese institution with CCP ties
  • Speeches alongside officials from CCP-linked organizations
  • A student exchange program allegedly supported by the CCP

The committee has requested information from FBI Director Christopher Wray regarding CCP-connected entities and officials associated with Walz.

Critics have questioned Walz’s apparent warmth toward China, including controversial comparisons he allegedly made between Chinese and U.S. historical events.

The probe also aims to explore the reported presence of a Chinese “secret police station” in the Twin Cities and its potential connections to Walz-affiliated groups.

New York Times bestselling author Peter Schweizer highlighted concerns about Walz’s stance on China, noting the governor’s reluctance to criticize CCP activities while being vocal on domestic issues.

As the investigation progresses, it’s expected to spark discussions about foreign influence in American politics, the extent of China’s reach into U.S. institutions, and the potential impact on national security and foreign policy decisions.
