Illegal Chinese Breach Raises Security Alarms In California

Last Wednesday, a Chinese national was apprehended after illegally entering the United States and subsequently trespassing on a Marine Corps base in Twentynine Palms, California. U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed the arrest of the individual who defied orders to vacate the premises.

According to U.S. Border Patrol agents, the incident remains under investigation. “His purpose and intent behind his actions are still being investigated,” stated Gregory K. Bovino, Chief Patrol Agent, on X, formerly known as Twitter. The incident at Twentynine Palms is not an isolated case but part of a troubling pattern of unauthorized entries onto military installations, with over 100 instances involving Chinese nationals reported in recent years.

This breach comes as concerns have recently escalated about Chinese espionage and infiltration of sensitive sites. Chinese nationals have sometimes been apprehended attempting to enter restricted areas on American military bases while posing as tourists. Those include incidents at a New Mexico missile launch site and a Florida rocket launch facility.

Critics argue that the incident reflects broader national security concerns, with retired Air Force Gen. Blaine Holt and investigative reporter Michael Yon highlighting the potential for foreign adversaries, including state actors from China, to exploit vulnerabilities in U.S. border security. The infiltration of military-age Chinese men into the U.S., some allegedly aligned with the People’s Liberation Army, has fueled fears of organized espionage activities.

The U.S. has witnessed a significant uptick in encounters with Chinese nationals at the southern border, with over 22,000 encounters since the start of the fiscal year, marking a sharp increase from previous years.

In the context of U.S.-China relations, the infiltration of military installations by Chinese nationals adds a layer of tension, underscoring the importance of vigilance and cooperation among security agencies. As the U.S. navigates the evolving geopolitical landscape, the impact of the Biden administration’s open border policies on the imperative to protect against espionage and security threats remains of primary concern.

What’s all the deal? Biden let the enemy in, no questions, no nothing.
