On April 28, masked men stormed a family’s home in Garner, North Carolina, brandishing firearms and demanding a $1 million ransom. According to Fox News, the intruders tied up the father and abducted the mother and baby, fleeing the scene in a black Nissan Altima.

The investigation moved swiftly. Within 24 hours, Paola Duran Duran and her brother Miguel Angel Duran Duran were arrested. FBI agents and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation played key roles in coordinating the multi-agency operation.

Final Suspect Tracked and Arrested

Days later, federal agents captured the third suspect, Eleodoro “Leo” Estrada-Hernandez. As reported by the New York Post, he was taken into custody without incident. All three suspects are being held in the Wake County Detention Center.

“In less than 24 hours, through incredible collaborative investigative efforts, the Garner Police Department charged and arrested two people in connection to the kidnapping,” the department stated.
Investigators believe the kidnapping may have been financially motivated and premeditated. Authorities did not disclose whether the suspects had prior connections to the family but confirmed the group intended to extort a ransom from the victims’ relatives.

The victims were located unharmed, a result that law enforcement called “a best-case outcome.” The Garner Police Department expressed gratitude for the cooperation between agencies and the community’s support. “The Garner Police Department is thankful these victims were recovered safely,” said a department spokesperson.
