Kamala Harris Dodges Question On Witnessing Biden’s Cognitive Decline
Vice President Kamala Harris avoided directly answering a question about witnessing President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline during an interview that aired Tuesday night. Harris, who is now the Democratic presidential candidate, was asked by NBC News’ Hallie Jackson about Biden’s decision to drop out of the race after a troubling debate performance against President Donald Trump.
Jackson pressed Harris, asking if she had been honest with the public about what she observed from Biden, particularly during moments behind closed doors leading up to and following the debate. The debate, in which Biden appeared to show significant cognitive impairments, played a major role in his decision to withdraw from the 2024 race.

Harris responded slowly, stating, “Joe Biden is an — extremely accomplished, experienced, and capable in every way that anyone would want if they’re president.” She emphasized her confidence in Biden’s abilities but did not directly address whether she had seen any cognitive issues.
When Jackson asked whether Harris had witnessed anything like Biden’s performance during the debate while working with him in private, Harris avoided the question, calling it simply “a bad debate.” Jackson then pointed out that Biden’s decision to step aside allowed Harris to take the top spot on the Democratic ticket, underscoring the significance of that night.
The lack of a direct answer from Harris has sparked further speculation about Biden’s mental fitness during his time in office. Many have questioned whether Harris, as his vice president, had a responsibility to be more forthcoming with the American people about what she observed.
