Ohio Mother Dies Trying To Save Son From Carjacker
Alexa Stakely, 29, died heroically attempting to rescue her six-year-old son from a carjacker. The incident took place at White Oak Park Condominiums in Columbus, Ohio, early Thursday morning. Stakely left her car running as she collected her son’s belongings. When a carjacker attempted to drive away with the boy inside, she jumped onto the hood but was thrown off, sustaining fatal injuries.
Witnesses reported seeing two males fleeing the scene, abandoning the car with the boy unharmed inside. Authorities believe the suspects were part of a group seen in the area earlier. Sgt. James Fuqua emphasized that the suspects know the severity of their actions and urged residents to check security footage to aid the investigation.
Stakely worked as a speech-language pathologist at Winchester Trail Elementary and took on a second job as a server to support her child. Her brother, Hayden Swartz, described her as an amazing mother dedicated to her son. He called for the perpetrators to turn themselves in, saying, “Justice needs to be served.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the needs of her child. This tragic event underscores the dangers of car theft and the lengths to which a parent will go to protect their child. The community is rallying around Stakely’s family, offering support and seeking justice for her untimely death.
