Polish Leader Calls For Urgency Amid ‘Serious And Real’ War Threat
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has described the danger of a global conflict as “serious and real,” citing the escalating war in Ukraine as a critical flashpoint. His comments reflect growing alarm in Europe over the potential for the conflict to spiral out of control.
“The war in the east is entering a decisive phase; we feel that the unknown is approaching,” Tusk said. “The conflict is taking on dramatic proportions.” His remarks come as Ukraine, with U.S. backing, has used long-range missiles to strike within Russian territory, drawing fierce retaliation.
Russia’s hypersonic missile attack on Dnipro in response to the strikes has heightened tensions further. NATO allies have condemned the attack, while Russian President Vladimir Putin has framed it as a necessary deterrent against Western provocations.
Earlier this year, Tusk warned that Europe was ill-prepared for the realities of modern conflict. He described the region as being in a “prewar era,” urging leaders to take the threat of escalation seriously. “Literally any scenario is possible,” he stated.
Western nations, including the U.K. and France, have played a significant role in enabling Ukraine’s strikes. Critics argue that these actions risk drawing Europe closer to a direct confrontation with Russia, potentially leading to catastrophic consequences.
Tusk’s warnings highlight the precarious situation facing Europe. As tensions rise, leaders must urgently seek diplomatic solutions to prevent the conflict from escalating into a full-scale global war.
