Priest Removed From Duties After Sabrina Carpenter’s Controversial Music Video At Church

A New York City priest has been removed from his duties after the approval of a provocative music video by pop star Sabrina Carpenter, which was filmed inside his church. Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, who served at Our Lady of Mount Carmel – Annunciation Parish in Brooklyn, was stripped of his administrative and pastoral roles following an investigation that uncovered financial mismanagement and a violation of diocesan policies. The incident has brought attention to the rising conflict between Christian values and the secular world, highlighting the attack on America’s moral fabric.

Carpenter’s music video for her song “Feather” sparked outrage after it featured her dancing in front of the church’s altar, dressed provocatively and surrounded by faux coffins. The diocese quickly condemned the video, stating that proper protocols had not been followed in granting permission to film in the sacred space. Gigantiello admitted that allowing the video to be filmed was a lapse in judgment but emphasized that he wasn’t present during the shoot.

Further investigation into Gigantiello’s conduct revealed more troubling findings, including unauthorized financial transfers from parish funds to accounts connected to Frank Carone, the former chief of staff for New York City Mayor Eric Adams. These actions violated diocesan financial policies and raised concerns about Gigantiello’s stewardship of the church.

Bishop Robert Brennan took immediate action, removing Gigantiello from his duties and appointing Bishop Witold Mroziewski as the administrator of the parish. Gigantiello also lost his fundraising position within the diocese. The response from the church was necessary to restore the public trust, but it also underscores the challenges faced by religious communities in a society that increasingly marginalizes traditional values.
