RICO Case Names Sunny Hostin’s Husband In Alleged Insurance Fraud Scheme

Dr. Emmanuel “Manny” Hostin, husband of The View co-host Sunny Hostin, is facing serious legal challenges as one of nearly 200 defendants in a RICO lawsuit filed in New York City. The lawsuit accuses Hostin of participating in an extensive insurance fraud scheme involving fraudulent medical claims and illegal kickbacks.

The case, filed on December 17, centers on allegations that Hostin billed American Transit Insurance for unnecessary medical services and received kickbacks disguised as legitimate financial transactions. Hostin Orthopaedics, the practice he has owned since 2006, is named in the lawsuit as a key entity in the alleged fraud.

Hostin’s attorney, Daniel Thwaites, has dismissed the lawsuit as baseless. In a statement, Thwaites claimed that American Transit Insurance is attempting to avoid paying legitimate claims by targeting healthcare providers with broad legal actions. He described the case as “a scattershot approach to intimidate doctors and limit care for insured individuals.”

Sunny Hostin has previously commented on her husband’s professional disputes with insurance companies. During a segment on The View, she noted that her husband often has to sue insurers to secure payment for his services. These remarks have resurfaced in light of the allegations, raising questions about whether they inadvertently shed light on the practices described in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit alleges that Hostin knowingly participated in a fraudulent scheme to exploit the insurance system. Described as one of the largest RICO cases in New York’s history, it highlights systemic issues in the healthcare and insurance industries.

As Dr. Hostin fights to clear his name, the allegations have also drawn attention to Sunny Hostin’s high-profile role on ABC’s The View, where she frequently speaks on issues of justice and accountability. The lawsuit could place increased scrutiny on both Hostins as the legal proceedings unfold.
