Secret Service Agent Leaves Post To Breastfeed Before Trump Rally, Raising Security Concerns

A Secret Service agent’s decision to leave her post minutes before President Donald Trump’s arrival at a rally in Asheville, North Carolina, has sparked significant backlash. The agent reportedly left without notifying her superiors to breastfeed her child in a secure room designated for official use. The August 14 incident has raised questions about the professionalism and readiness of the Secret Service, especially given that it occurred shortly after an assassination attempt against Trump just last month.

The RealClearPolitics report by Susan Crabtree highlighted that the agent, along with two family members who were not cleared by security, bypassed checkpoints and entered a secure room to breastfeed. The room was intended for emergency operations related to the event. The site agent, responsible for overseeing security, discovered the situation just five minutes before Trump’s motorcade was set to arrive.

Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed that the incident is under review, stating, “While there was no impact to the North Carolina event, the specifics of this incident are being examined.”

Critics argue that the agent’s decision to prioritize personal matters over her duties jeopardized the safety of a high-profile event. Conservative commentator Matt Walsh expressed his concern on X, stating that “it’s absurd and morally grotesque” for a mother of young children to be in a position that requires risking her life for someone other than her own family.

The incident adds to ongoing concerns about the Secret Service’s readiness, particularly after the July 13 assassination attempt. With public trust in the agency already strained, this latest episode has fueled debate over the balance between family obligations and professional responsibilities in high-stakes jobs.
