Teamsters Union Polls Show Overwhelming Support For Trump Over Harris

Recent polls conducted by the Teamsters union show that President Donald Trump holds a commanding lead over Kamala Harris among the union’s members in the 2024 presidential race. The internal polls indicate a strong preference for Trump, despite the union’s historical alignment with Democratic candidates.

The Teamsters Electronic Member Poll, conducted between July 24 and September 15, revealed that Trump received 59.6% support, while Harris managed only 34%. Additionally, 6.4% of respondents expressed support for other candidates. Another poll, the Teamsters Research Phone Poll, conducted from September 9 to 15, showed similar results. Trump secured 58% support, with Harris trailing at 31%. Six percent of participants were undecided, and 5% responded with “don’t know.”

These poll results highlight a significant shift in political sentiment within the labor union. Historically, union members have favored Democratic candidates, but Trump’s platform appears to be resonating with the rank and file. Sean M. O’Brien, General President of the Teamsters, shared the poll results in a post on X, emphasizing the union’s commitment to democratic processes in determining endorsements.

“Our members are the union, and their voices and opinions must be at the forefront of everything the Teamsters do,” O’Brien stated. He reiterated that the union has not yet endorsed a candidate, but a decision is expected to be announced soon by the union’s General Executive Board.

As the 2024 election approaches, the support of key labor groups like the Teamsters could play a pivotal role in shaping the race. Trump’s growing popularity among union members signals potential shifts in political alliances.
