Thieves Use Pythons To Pull Off Tennessee Convenience Store Heist
Authorities in Tennessee are searching for four suspects who allegedly used live pythons to rob a gas station convenience store, making off with $400 worth of CBD oil before fleeing in a small sedan.
The bizarre incident took place at a Citgo in Madison County on March 4, when two men and two women entered the store wielding the snakes. According to store employee Mayur Raval, the suspects waved the reptiles around, even placing them on the counter to intimidate the clerk.
“They were just waving them around and putting them on the counter,” Raval said. He described one of the pythons as white, while the other was a mix of brown and other colors.
Surveillance footage shows the suspects arriving in a four-door sedan with a trunk held shut by bungee cords. They pulled up directly in front of the store before entering with the snakes, creating a disturbing scene for both employees and customers.
“I think they planned to successfully come here and rob the store,” Raval added. “The snake is a weapon, you know.”
After grabbing the CBD oil, the suspects quickly left the store and drove away. Local law enforcement has released surveillance images in an effort to identify the thieves.
This is not the first time Tennessee has seen a crime involving a snake. Last year, a Memphis man attempted to rob a gas station with a five-foot-long python, only to be outmatched when the clerk pulled a firearm and called 911.
