Trump: Musk Would Be Welcome In Cabinet If He’s Interested

President Donald Trump said he would be open to giving tech entrepreneur Elon Musk a Cabinet role in a future administration if Musk agreed to it. Trump made the remarks in a Monday interview, describing Musk as a “brilliant guy” whose expertise could be valuable in his team.

Trump’s comments came shortly after he and Musk held a discussion on X, where they reportedly exchanged views on a range of issues. The former president praised Musk’s intelligence, stating, “I certainly would [offer him a position] if he would do it.” This announcement builds on Musk’s previous support for Trump, even though Musk has publicly denied directly funding the campaign.

In the same interview, Trump expressed reservations about the existing $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicles. Despite Tesla’s reliance on such incentives, Trump hinted at the possibility of rolling it back, though he stopped short of committing to any specific action. “I’m not making any final decisions on it,” he said, adding that he supports a diverse range of vehicle options, including gasoline, hybrid, and electric.

Trump’s broader vision for American manufacturing also surfaced during the conversation. He stressed the importance of incentivizing foreign automakers to build cars within the U.S., employing American workers and contributing to the economy. “We will make our own cars,” Trump said, underlining his focus on domestic production.
