Trump Orders Guantanamo Bay To Prepare For 30,000 Criminal Illegal Aliens

President Donald Trump has directed the Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to prepare Guantanamo Bay to house 30,000 illegal immigrants deemed the most dangerous. The move, announced Wednesday, marks one of Trump’s most aggressive steps to address illegal immigration.

Trump emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “Some of them are so bad, we don’t even trust their countries to hold them because we don’t want them coming back. We’re going to send them to Guantanamo.” He added that the facility is “a tough place to get out of” and will be used to detain high-priority criminal aliens.

The administration has already deported more than 7,300 illegal immigrants since Trump returned to office. According to DHS, the expansion of the Guantanamo migrant detention facility will immediately double U.S. detention capacity for the worst offenders. Trump’s directive orders both the Pentagon and DHS to take “all appropriate actions to expand” the site to its full capacity.

Guantanamo Bay, widely known for housing terror suspects after the September 11 attacks, currently holds 15 detainees connected to terrorism. However, a lesser-known section of the base has been used for years as a migrant detention center. Trump’s appointed border czar, Tom Homan, pointed out that this facility “has been there for decades” and will now be significantly expanded.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth clarified that the site will serve as a “temporary transit” location, ensuring the proper processing and return of illegal immigrants to their home countries. Meanwhile, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem reinforced the administration’s commitment to removing criminals from American communities. We are expanding capacity to get these individuals out of the country as quickly as possible,” she said.

The policy has sparked outrage from Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, who condemned the plan, calling it an “act of brutality” and accusing the U.S. of expanding “illegal detention” on Cuban soil. However, Trump remains undeterred, urging Congress to provide full funding for border security and enforcement.

The administration has ramped up immigration enforcement since Inauguration Day, implementing executive orders aimed at sealing the border, deporting illegal immigrants and deploying military resources to support removals.
