Trump Vows To Reverse Title IX Changes And Protect Women’s Sports From Transgender Athletes
Former President Donald Trump has vowed to take immediate action to ban men from competing in women’s sports and to undo President Joe Biden’s Title IX revisions if re-elected. Trump made this commitment during an interview with radio hosts Clay Travis and Buck Sexton.
Clay Travis announced the news on X, noting, “President Trump just pledged to all of us on @clayandbuck that men will not be allowed to compete against women in sports when he is elected president. He promises to take care of it on day one and end Kamala and Biden’s new Title IX policies allowing this to happen.”
Trump reiterated his position on Truth Social, stating, “I WILL KEEP MEN OUT OF WOMEN’S SPORTS!”
This pledge follows a recent incident at the 2024 Paris Olympics where Italian boxer Angela Carini withdrew from her fight against Algerian transgender boxer Imane Khelif within the first minute. Khelif, who was previously disqualified from the 2023 world championships for having “XY chromosomes” and high testosterone levels, has reignited the debate over transgender athletes in women’s sports.
The Republican Party’s 2024 platform supports Trump’s commitment, aiming to prevent trans-identifying males from competing in women’s sports, ban taxpayer funding for gender transition surgeries, and halt the promotion of gender transition in schools. These measures are intended to counteract Biden’s Title IX policies and safeguard the integrity of women’s sports.
Trump’s stance comes amid growing concerns about the fairness and safety of women’s sports among conservatives. Critics argue that allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports creates significant advantages, while advocates for transgender rights emphasize the importance of inclusion.
As the campaign season progresses, Trump’s firm position on this issue is expected to appeal to voters who value traditional gender roles and competitive fairness in sports. His promise to act “on day one” highlights his urgency and commitment to reversing policies he views as detrimental to women’s sports.
Trump’s declaration marks a clear policy direction, aiming to uphold the integrity and fairness of women’s sports and positioning him as a champion for female athletes and traditional gender norms.
