Jordan Investigates Potential Evidence Manipulation In Trump Classified Records Case
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) has launched an investigation into whether evidence seized by the FBI during the raid on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home was altered or manipulated. Jordan’s inquiry comes after special counsel Jack Smith admitted in a court filing that the order of items within some boxes is not the same as in the associated scans.

In a letter sent to the Office of Professional Responsibility this week Jordan expressed “grave concerns” about the Justice Department’s commitment to impartial justice and whether Smith’s team misled a federal court or upheld the highest professional standards. He is now calling on the office to hold accountable attorneys who may have violated these standards.
So as it turns out, Jack Smith and his team tampered with evidence
Or to put it another way: Mishandled classified materials

“The Government acknowledges that this is inconsistent with what Government counsel previously understood and represented to the Court” a footnote in Smith’s filing reads. This admission has prompted Jordan to demand all documents and records related to the alleged manipulation of seized documents as well as any allegations of ethical impropriety regarding Smith or other attorneys assigned to the special counsel’s office by May 20.

Trump’s co-defendants in the case had previously requested a delay as lawyers were having difficulty determining the origin of some documents in the evidence boxes.
The FBI seized 33 boxes of documents from Mar-a-Lago in August 2022 leading to charges against Trump including allegedly violating the Espionage Act, making false statements to investigators and conspiracy to obstruct justice. Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges calling the case an “Election Interference Scam.”
