Trump Blasts Biden, Jost After White House Correspondents’ Dinner
Although former President Donald Trump declined to participate in the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner during his term in office, that did not prevent him from ridiculing his successor’s performance during the annual event over the weekend.
“Saturday Night Live” cast member Colin Jost headlined the event on Saturday and, along with President Joe Biden, attracted criticism from the former president in a social media post the following day.
“The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was really bad,” Trump wrote. “Colin Jost BOMBED, and Crooked Joe was an absolute disaster! Doesn’t get much worse than this!”
Of course, the taunts went both ways, with Biden, Jost and other speakers using the opportunity to rail against the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.
“It’s after 10 p.m.,” Jost said at one point. “Sleepy Joe is still awake while Donald Trump has spent the past week falling asleep in court every morning — thoughFox News said he was just being anti-woke.”
Some media reports related to the ongoing criminal trial in Manhattan claimed that Trump had been seen nodding off during the proceeding, but his attorney brushed off any such allegations.
“If anything, he’s probably brutally bored,” asserted Alina Habba. “I mean, it’s painful. They make him sit there through jury selection. The first day was procedural.”
For his part, Biden attempted to shift the focus away from mounting concerns about his age by depicting Trump as a child and making a thinly veiled reference to former Vice President Mike Pence’s refusal to endorse his former boss.

“I’m a grown man running against a 6 year old,” the president said. “Age is the only thing we have in common. My vice president actually endorses me.”
Jost did deliver a few jokes at Biden’s expense, including one highlighting the president’s poor performance in the polls.
“My ‘Weekend Update’ co-anchor Michael Che was going to be here tonight, but in solidarity with President Biden I decided to lose all my Black support,” he said.
Outside of the glitzy event was an increasingly common sight as anti-Israel protesters shouted slogans and harassed individuals attempting to enter the venue.
“Shame on you,” taunted some demonstrators to attendees while others took aim at journalists specifically.
“Western media, we see you and all the horrors that you hide,” protesters chanted.
