Massie Calls TikTok Ban A ‘Trojan Horse’
Conservatives have grown increasingly wary of Chinese spyware app TikTok for a multitude of reasons from spreading harmful content to America’s youth to potentially providing detailed personal information about American citizens to the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
But ongoing calls to regulate or ban the social media app have been challenged each time, with the most recent challenge coming from Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who called the most recent proposed ban on TikTok a “Trojan horse.”

Massie, who has certainly been wrong in the past, posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying,“The so-called TikTok ban is a trojan horse. The President will be given the power to ban WEB SITES, not just Apps. The person breaking the new law is deemed to be the U.S. (or offshore) INTERNET HOSTING SERVICE or App Store, not the ‘foreign adversary’”
Is he right?
The so-called TikTok ban is a trojan horse.
The President will be given the power to ban WEB SITES, not just Apps.
The person breaking the new law is deemed to be the U.S. (or offshore) INTERNET HOSTING SERVICE or App Store, not the “foreign adversary.”https://t.co/iKtAQFGeQH pic.twitter.com/P26hEbzQrf

Given the increasingly censorious federal government and a complacent media yearning for the government’s assistance in returning to dominance, it seems like he might be.
Before the internet emerged as the public square where information and goods are delivered between individuals and groups with little-to-no barriers — in most cases — the public had only television and radio, and the limited and scripted information provided there, to find out what was going on in the world.
If you think this isn’t a Trojan horse and will only apply to TikTok and foreign-adversary social media companies, then contemplate why someone thought it was important to get a very specific exclusion for their internet based business written into the bill: pic.twitter.com/LnHsmEgtt9

Imagine how badly politicians like President Joe Biden would like to go back to a time when only a few select people, often friendly to liberal causes, were the only “reliable” source to find out what the government and its partners are doing.
Biden has already stated that he will sign the ban into law if the legislation is passed through Congress, which is a strange thing to say for the first president in United States history to have opened a presidential TikTok account — for the election.
Conservatives would be wise to watch this bill closely. While some things have changed since 2020, the relentless will of Democrats like Joe Biden to power has not. And providing this regime with the power to shut down entire websites it deems a threat will surely end in a controlled blackout of conservative voices in America.
At least Fox will be safe.
