Secret Service Agent Assigned To Kamala Harris Handcuffed After Fight

An armed Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris’ protection detail was reportedly handcuffed after getting into a physical altercation with other agents.

The news came via a report from the Washington Examiner on Wednesday, which revealed that the Secret Service agent had “fought unarmed” with several of his colleagues on Monday morning at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, just 10 miles southeast of Washington, D.C.

The agent reportedly “became aggressive with other agents,” according to the outlet, which noted that the Secret Service has characterized the fight as both a medical incident and a physical altercation. A detail shift supervisor and the special agent in charge attempted to calm the agent, but a physical altercation ensued instead. The agent was reportedly handcuffed to end the altercation before ultimately being taken off duty for a medical assessment.

The agent has since been identified as Michelle Herczeg, and witnesses have stated that the incident began when she started behaving erratically — which included mumbling to herself, hiding behind curtains and throwing menstrual pads and other items at her colleagues. Herczeg reportedly told her colleagues that they were “going to burn in hell and needed to listen to God.”

Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi issued a statement to the Washington Examiner about the incident.

“At approximately 9 a.m. April 22, a U.S. Secret Service special agent supporting the Vice President’s departure from Joint Base Andrews began displaying behavior their colleagues found distressing. The agent was removed from their assignment while medical personnel were summoned,” the statement read.

Harris was reportedly still at her Washington, D.C., home at the time of the incident and her trip to Joint Base Andrews was not affected by Herczeg’s actions, according to Guglielmi.

“The Vice President was at the Naval Observatory when this incident occurred and there was no impact on her departure from Joint Base Andrews. The U.S. Secret Service takes the safety and health of our employees very seriously. As this was a medical matter, we will not disclose any further details,” the statement continued.

This is not the first time that Herczeg was in the spotlight, as she reportedly filed a one-million-dollar discrimination lawsuit against the city of Dallas, Texas, for supposedly being treated less favorably as a woman and supposedly being harassed while working as a police officer. The case was later dismissed.

Some commentators have blamed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the Secret Service for the incident, claiming that the mentally unstable woman with a history of making allegedly false claims about her colleagues had only been hired because of DEI.
